Love

As I sit here watching my babies sleep I think about the world they will be growing up in. I dread the day they lose that innocence and realize the world isn’t always a nice place. That things happen- sickness, death, bullying etc. They will realize this, but they will also realize that I won’t be able to protect them no mater how hard I try or how much I want to, I can’t. But what I can give them is the tools to be able to deal with the harsh realities of life.

I can give them a safe haven to come home to

I can give them people that unconditionally love them

I can give them a support system to get them through some of their most trying times

People can always buy ways to help be protected, like self defense class, but what you can’t buy is learning how to love and be loved. You can’t buy the feeling of being comforted on the worst and best days of your life. That needs to be taught, you have to teach how to love and comfort.

The world needs love in the worst way

If love, compassion, and understanding were taught instead of fear, judgement, and hatred the world would be a better place. People wouldn’t have fear of being judged for the color of their skin, the religion they practice,  a disability  they have, or even something as simple as their opinion on a topic. Instead there would be acceptance and understanding of those different than themselves. There would be conversations to hear about things we don’t understand without the fear of being judged for being different.

I want my children to grow up to be kind, understanding, loving human beings. I want them to accept others different than themselves. When they are faced with having to choose between being mean to someone or showing them love; I hope they choose love everytime.
